I attended and played in this tournament on Sunday 4th July. Players represented of the last sixteen teams which took part in the ‘real’ tournament, drawn at random prior to the start. All teams had identical santiago bases, which make for a much less precise game than you get with the likes of sureshots, profibases etc. I drew Kilmarnock, and finished with the modest record of Played 5 Won 1 Drew 2 Lost 2, in spite of which I managed to nab a trophy – my first. It was a great day, and I’d heartily encourage you to think about taking part in such tournaments if you get the chance. Playing in competitions is easily the best way to learn new tactics and improve your skills as well as meeting fellow enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
Trophy winners were as follows:-
Winner – Partick Thistle (Ally Stephen)
Runner up – Hibernian (Steve George)
Plate Winner – Hearts (Mark Smith)
Plate Runner up – Dundee United (Ian Rider)
Fair Play Trophy – Kilmarnock (John Devaney)
